Naming Ceremony

After exactly 2 months, the baby boy born on July 4, 2009 was named. Apparently, one should name either in the first month or the third month of the lunar calendar. Since first month is too early for the new baby, we decided to have it just on the brink of the beginning of the third month.


We had done a few shortlists like earlier and the names that found favour were short names, easy names and somewhat synonymous names. Some folks asked me if I had bought the Hindu baby names book by Maneka Gandhi, which seems to be a lot popular. Well, we did not and relied more on some search on the net plus some search in our brains.





Couple of names that we shortlisted were Soham and Ninad. But eventually we imagined the baby boy to be ..




















Light in our Life,
Light to sound,
Holding the Lamp for the future,
Hand in Hand with Diya,
and Deep in all our hearts

We named him "Deep" !

45 days Old baby !

My yet un-named son is now 45 days old. We had the second set of vaccinations after the first one that was given in the hospital. I feel babies certainly start looking better after the first month. Apart from that, I think the parents also get more confidence to hold the baby in their arms.

we have now started the preparations for the naming ceremony slated for Sept 3, amidst all the swine flu scare. There are folks coming in from Pune area apart from other areas as well..

New Born Baby - Boy !

Well, this post should have come last week with the birth of the new baby boy in my family last saturday. Yes, we had our new addition at 6:37 AM on a saturday, 4th July 2009. The baby weighed 2.7 kgs at birth. This also happens to be the American Independence day, which most of my american friends/relatives were pointing to.

Everyone is happy and everyone is talking about a complete family / balanced family etc. Personally speaking, my first moments were to thank God on the safe delivery as well as a healthy baby.

Couple of updates about her:

She now converses in English and manages to translate stories into English.

At School, they are teaching the initial alphabets and she manages to recognize a few of them.

She likes the school and her teachers - Lakshmi madam and Bhawna miss ..

Her thumb sucking habit is still continuing and we are exploring means to curtail the same :-)
